Why didn't I think of this before? I've been wasting rolls of film just testing the variables of my very old film camera (no LCD viewfinder), getting maybe 4 good photos on a 24-photo roll of film. This was a big problem for me until I came up with a suprisingly simple answer to this.

Now, I carry both my manual film camera and my digital camera in the same bag. I test out the aperture, ISO, shutter, etc. settings on my digital camera, then take out the manual one, and synchronize the settings. Then point and shoot.

So easy, and it means more good pictures on a roll for me... try it out for yourself, it's a great idea. Especially since, at least my, film photos always seem to come out in higher quality than the digital ones.
